The Rescue Diver Course is probably one of the most challenging diving courses, yet most of those who complete the course describe it as the most rewarding one they’ve done.
During the Rescue Diver Course you will learn how to prevent and manage problems in the water. You will become more confident regarding your own skills and abilities as a diver. Anticipating the problems that can arise and knowing how to deal with them will also make you a better buddy. The course is hard work but also serious fun for all involved.
As always you will receive a comprehensive manual and you will need to complete the knowledge reviews. Your instructor will also take you through a number of rescue exercises and scenarios after which you will use role play to put these new skills into practice. The topics you will cover include:
-
- Self-rescue
- Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
- Emergency management and equipment
- Rescuing panicked divers
- Rescuing unresponsive divers
All candidates for the Rescue Diver Course need to have completed the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care training within the last 24 months. Your instructor may offer the EFR course as part of the Rescue Diver program.
